1. Default Download Limit `% Setting changed from 25% to 75%
2. Fixed ability to search within active Directories.

Oh? You didn't know you could do that? Try this:
a. Open a directory in DIRECTORIES (The folder will change color to Yellow when active)
b. If there is a folder within that directory, click to activate it.
c. Choose OPTIONS>SEARCH and type in a key word or title.
d. The Search will look within the active directories.
e. A temporary folder will appear in DIRECTORIES with the search results. This will be cleared when you exit Nokia Podcasting.

This is helpful for finding content in many subfolders of the DIRECTORIES>PODCAST DISCOVERY folder. Or if you add your own favourite OPML directory and want to only search within that rather than a wider search. (Helpful also for international directories when wanting to search in local languages.)

3. Fixed problem with installing newer version of Podcasting over an older version. (See Updating Nokia Podcasting: FAQ for more information)

NOTE: We have noticed that the automatic updating feature still needs some work before its perfect.

If you are automatically updating many large files at the same time, sometimes not all of the episodes will update. (You will see a red "!" by the shows not updated.)

To fix this, you can either manually update the shows which failed, or if your device is plugged in- try changing the default Download settings to update every hour (staring at a specified time) instead of just once a day. This should pick up any failed updates.​

2. Install the Java client on your phone
The Java client can be installed on the phone in several ways. This user guide shows four ways to do it. If you have a Nokia phone

you have to use 2.a or 2.d!



2.a Nokia PC suit
Install the Nokia PC Suite software that came with your phone. Use the “Install applications” program.



In the left pane, navigate to C:\Program Files\Bluetooth Remote Control\Java Client. You should see a screen similar to the following:

Select BluetoothRC.jar file and transfer it to your phone.



2.b Using the Bluetooth OBEX File Transfer profile (Microsoft Bluetooth stack)
Right click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray (at the bottom right) and chose "Send file". Select the file BluetoothRC.jar in the program install directory C:\Program Files\Bluetooth Remote Control\Java Client.

2.c Using the Bluetooth OBEX File Transfer profile (WIDCOMM Stack)
Open your Bluetooth PC solution and search for your mobile phone. When it is found browse the phones services and chose the
OBEX File Transfer profile. Drag and drop the file BluetoothRC.jar found in C:\Program Files\Bluetooth Remote Control\Java Client
to the phone.

The below picture shows this on the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack.






2.e Problem installing/running the application on the phone
Problem 1: A few phones require the jad file for installation. The jad file is extracted from the jar file, and almost all phones when installing do this automatically!
If the phone does not recognize the jar file you have to manually create the jad file and transfer that to your phone. We have good experience with the tool JadMaker!


3. Connecting from your phone
Bluetooth Remote Control has direct support for two Bluetooth Solutions on the PC Microsoft and Widcomm. If you have one of these solutions you connect directly from the phone
without configuration.

3.a Microsoft and Widcomm PC Bluetooth solution (no configuration)
The program has direct supports for your Bluetooth solution if the picture below specify either the Microsoft or Widcomm Bluetooth stack. This information is found in the "General" tab.



The "Connect Settings" on the phone must be set to "Direct (default)". This is the default setting so you do not need to change anything



Chose "Search..." on phone.

The first time you run Bluetooth Remote Control, you will need to make sure that your computer is discoverable. Once you have successfully connected once, you can chose "Reconnect..." in the phone menu. This action will connect to the last connected computer. This means that you do not need to have your computer in discoverable mode more then the first time.



If either the phone or PC requires a secure Bluetooth connection you will have to pair the devices prior/under the first connection attempt. This is a straightforward process that requires you to input the same pin code on both devices. Please consult your Bluetooth solution documentation.

3.b Thosiba, BlueSoleil or any other PC Bluetooth solution
You know that you have one of these Bluetooth solutions if the picture below is displayed in the "General" tab.
IMPORTANT: This picture is also displayed if your Bluetooth solution is shut down or not inserted! If this is the case please turn on the Bluetooth solution and restart Bluetooth Remote Control!



Please make sure that you set the incomming Bluetooth serial profile COM port (COM3 is just an example and the actual COM port varies from computer to computer)! All ports found are listed so you can either try them all or consult your Bluetooth PC documentation. The incomming COM port is often created when you connect the phone and computer the first time. If you do this when Bluetooth Remote Control is running the newly created COM port might not be in the list. If this is the case please write the COM port directly!

4. Configure Bluetooth Remote Control


Display desktop in mouse controller - Show PC desktop on the phone when controlling the mouse

Desktop zoom out - To improve the user experience the desktop displayed in the phone can be zoomed out 1-3 times. This means that the user will se more of the desktop. The drawbacks is a smaller desktop size and also that the images sent to the phone are bigger lowering the response time.

Display images in gray colour - All images are displayed in gray colour.

Number of gray colours - Number of gray colours to show in the image

Stability optimization - It has been found during testing that the stability of the Bluetooth Java interface JSR-82 varies from phone to phone. These stability issues depend on a poor implementation by the phone manufactures. To address this Bluetooth Remote Control has a stability optimization mode. If Bluetooth Remote Control phone client crash please enable this option! This mode has a performance drawback so the preferred setting is disabled.
Automatically start program at login - If this option is selected the program will start automatically each time you start the computer.

IMPORTANT 1: Some phones have stability problem when the setting "Display desktop in mouse controller" is enabled. In this mode with the mouse controller application selected, the actual desktop image is sent continuously to the phone. This means that the phone receives a lot of data and this causes the problem. To avoid this we recommend that gray colours with as few colours as possible are selected. Please try to disable the stability optimization as well. This means that the phone will receive less data as well as an improvement of the respond time and user experience.

IMPORTANT 2: The phone has a max image size and this means that it will not show to big PC desktop images. So if the program detects a to large image it will automatically recolor it to gray colours. And if this is not sufficient it will not be sent to the phone at all! The image size depends both on the display resolution as well as the actual image itself!

5. Requirements
5.a Bluetooth Remote Control running on PC
All Bluetooth solutions are supported! Native support for Bluetooth stacks from either Microsoft or Widcomm. The majority of all Bluetooth PC solutions on the market use one of these two Bluetooth solutions.

Window 98/2000 and XP with the .NET framework 1.1 SP1 or higher installed. This framework is a recommended update from Microsoft. If the installation program fails to detect support for the framework it will be downloaded and installed with Bluetooth Remote Control during the installation process. 5.b Bluetooth Remote Control running on Phone


Bluetooth Remote Control supports all Bluetooth enabled phones supporting JAVA MIDP2.0 and JAVA JSR-82.

Most of today phones support MIDP2.0 but not all of them have the Bluetooth support specified in JSR-82. Support for JSR-82 is however
increasing very fast! Bluetooth Remote Control supports all Bluetooth enabled mobile phones from Nokia as well as many other mobile phone brands.
