What's new from the previous release?

* Start-up sequence takes you to your current position as soon as position is found. If your position is not found in few seconds, you are taken to last known position
* You can rotate the map, so you can for example view 3D landmarks from all directions. Just press 4 and 6 in map view. Pressing 5 takes you back to 'north up' view
* In 3D view mode, you can tilt the view by pressing 2 and 8
* 2D/3D mode works with all map modes, i.e. with Map/Satellite/Terrain

GpsMid v0.4.51 J2ME​

GpsMid is a free, fully offline, vector based map application for your mobile phone. It displays your current position on a zoomable map and can be used to search for and navigate to roads or points of interest of your liking. As all data is stored in a compact binary format on your phone you will incur no charges for extra data downloads.

GpsMid uses map data by OpenStreetMap, a wiki based open source map. Yes, the world is not really complete yet, but in an increasing number of areas it is starting to be comparable to, if not greatly exceeding, the level of detail found on other commercial maps.

Currently supported features:

* Vector rendering of the roads, areas and points of interest
* Displaying the map either north on top or in the direction of driving
* Centering the map to a position received from your GPS:
o NMEA GPS-unit with bluetooth connection.
o Devices with built-in JSR179 compatible location provider
* Zooming in and out to arbitrary levels of detail.
* Displaying the name of the street you are on and the maximum speed you may travel.
* Searching for a name (street, city or POI) and jumping to it on the map

* Importing and exporting track logs and waypoints to and from GPX
* Taking geotagged photos with your mobile
* Fully customizing which OSM features are used in GpsMid and how you want your map to look

Limitations

Although GpsMid aims to run on as many devices as possible, due to the large variety of handsets and the sever resource limitations of some of the older mid-range phones, unfortunately not everything works equally well everywhere.

* Limited memory: Some phones have very limited memory, such as the Motorola Razr V3 series. On these it may not be possible to zoom out fully without exceeding available memory. Midlets of about 3Mb size should be fine though, at least when zoomed in.
* Maximum jar size: Some phones, such as earlier S40 phones of Nokia, restrict the maximum size of a jar file they will accept. As GpsMid bundles the map data into the jar, this may limit the area one can incorporate into a single midlet. Experimental support of storing the data on the file system has been added in version 0.4.0 to overcome this.
* Permissions: Java 2 ME unfortunately has often a DRM policy, which only allows signed midlets to access certain phone features used in GpsMid. As an open source project, and with the data bundled into the jar, we however cannot offer signed versions of GpsMid at this moment

BT747 is an application to control GPS Data Loggers based on the MTK Chipset. GPS Devices that are not Data Loggers, can benefit from part of the functionality.​

BT747 is software that can:​

* Download recorded position data from GPS Loggers based on the MTK chipset.
* Convert GPS position data in many formats (HTML, GPX, KML, KMZ, ...)
* Run on handheld devices (Palm, WinCE, Mobile Phones supporting Java (J2ME)) and Desktops (Windows, MacOSX, Linux flavors)

That covers a lot of functionality in just a few lines!​

Any phone with a CLDC 1.1 / MIDP 2.0 profile and JSR82 support (bluetooth library) should be able to run the J2ME version of BT747. Basically if the phone specification says it supports MIDP2.0 and has bluetooth, it is probably OK.​

To install that Mobile Phone version of BT747, you need to get at least the '.jar' file called 'BT_J2ME.jar' and get it installed to your Phone.​

TrackMate provides the features to view the location details, speed, top speed, direction and your instantaneous location on floating map with street view and satellite view. You can create landmarks denoted by colored flags which can be shared with your mates on the phone and web. It provides feature to track yourself or your group mates live from the phone as well as from the web. You can chat live with your mates if they are online, or send offline message to your mates which will be delivered to them as soon as they turn on the application.

Note: To eliminate permission alerts while downloading Map blocks on phone:

Go to the Application Manager (Settings -> Data Manager -> App Manager) of your phone, set the cursor on top of TrackMate, press Options ? Open/Suite Settings and check that you have the following settings:
Access Point: Select a valid internet access point
Network Access: Ask First Time

In certain phones, you can change the permission by highlighting TrackMate and then,
Options -> Application Access -> Communication -> Network Access -> Ask First Time Only


FEATURES IN BRIEF:

Location Details: TrackMate shows your current speed, top speed, direction of motion on a compass, location details as well as your instant position on floating map.

Create Group: TrackMate uses a very easy approach to create groups. Only thing you have to do is sign up with a username and password and ask your group members to signup with the same username and password. All members in a group uses same username and password and each member is identified by their Nick name.

Create and Share Landmarks: The application also offers options to create flags(landmarks) which are your points of interest. You can share or unshare the flags within the group by setting it as public or private. A member in a group can create a public flag and it can be viewed by all members in his group while tracking this member. A private flag is not shared in the group and can be used as a personal landmark of a member.

Track your Groupmates: A member in a group can view the live motion of other group members from the phone. If a member is currently offline, then his last available location will be shown on the map along with location details and time. Inorder to hide or view the location details of your groupmate on a bubble on the map, just hit softkey(5) on the phone while you are tracking this mate.

Chat with Mates: TrackMate also offers options to chat or send offline messages to your group members. Offline messages will be delivered to a member as soon as he becomes online or whenever he starts the application. You can also select the option 'Chat with All' in order to send messages to everyone in your group.

Map Softkeys: TrackMate uses Softkeys to create landmarks(7), scroll(UP,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT), zoom(1,3),switch map/satellite views(#),switch landmarks ( * ). Details of Softkeys are provided in 'Key Tips' command menu on the map view.

Phones without GPS: For those who dont have a GPS phone OR an external bluetooth GPS receiver, you can still use the application by unchecking 'USE GPS' checkbox in the Application Settings. By doing this you can use all the features of TrackMate except your instantaneous location on the map.

Online Presence: Online presence denotes whether others can see you online or not. Online status can be changed from the Application settings by checking or unchecking the 'Online Presence' Checkbox. If Unchecked, all your mates see you as offline and is denoted by red box. Your groupmates cannot track you while you are offline. If Checked, all your mates see you as online and is denoted by green box. If you exit the application, your status is automatically set to Offline.
