Calc is a Java calculator for MIDP or J2ME devices, such as a Java-enabled mobile phone or PDA. It was developed on a Sony Ericsson T610, which was my first Java-enabled phone but which has such a pitiful built-in calculator that I was compelled to develop this application.

Calc works much like a good old HP calculator with RPN logic, but the stack has 16 elements and you can see many of the elements on the stack simultaneously. I have chosen to use RPN logic (Reverse Polish Notation), because operating it requires less keys, you need only ENTER instead of "(", ")" and "=". Additionally, being able to store and see intermediate results on the stack is very advantageous.

Using the Real Java floating point library, Calc has 63 bits internal precision, which amounts to approximately 19 decimal digits accuracy, considerably more than normal calculators and computers. The exponent is 31 bits, which allows for numbers up to 4.197·10323228496. Handy when you want to calculate the factorial of 40000000.

Calcuphone v1.2 J2ME​

Calcuphone a Java J2ME Application developed by Daniel Lissner Östlund, Sweden. It is designed to run on mobile phones, and requires MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.0. The program is no larger than 70kb, and therefor will fit on almost all mobile phones.​

Calcuphone supports all functions a proffessional calculator should have:​

* Operators: +, -, *, /, ^, %.
* Functions: Sqrt, Cos, Tan, ArcSin, Ln, Random number, and more.
* Scientific calculation: Write for example: 5^(2+3)/5.
* Variable Storage: Save any answer to X, Y and Z, or use any previous answer.

The Graph ​

Calcuphone has an unique interactiv 2D-Graph/Plotter. With it you can do following:​

* View any function: Explore the curve for any function.
* Smooth Zooming: Zoom in or out the graph with you mobiles arrow-keys UP/DOWN. No limits!
* Cursor navigation: Move the cursor on the curve with arrowkeys RIGHT/LEFT and see the functions X&Y values. Else, use Insert X to go to X-value on the curve.
* "Camera" navigation: Move the graph-camera to explore other parts of the graph. Center camera on cursor at any time with KEY-5.
* Dual Curves: View the curves of two diffrent functions at the same time.
* Find Y: Enter a Y-value and autmaticly navigate to the nearest curve-coordinate with this Y-Value. Good for finding null points or solving equations.
* Equation solver: Find the nearest Y1=Y2 coordinate!
* Show Derivative: Se the current derivative for the current cursor-position. You can also choose to show the tangent.
* Use the cursor-values: Get the cursors current X-, X- or derivative value and use it in the calculator.​

STARTUP AND SETTING RATES
1. Start the application
2. In Options/Settings, select your Base currency, and your Internet access point (you should do it only once)

CONVERTING
1. Select a currency, and press the joystick, a form with the base currency and the selected currency will be displayed
2. Enter any amount, and the converted value will appear at once
3. If you want to convert different currencies, select Unit and press the joystick to get the list of available currencies
COMMISSION
If you want to calculate with commission, set a commission rate in Options/Settings. In the conversion form, the top row shows the direction of the conversion. This way, if "curr1 -> curr2" selected, all values in the conversion form will be calculated using the following equation:
value_in_curr2 = value_in_curr1 * rate_curr1_curr2 * (1 - commission/100)
both you change the value_in_curr1 or value_in_curr2.
