1. Download the ICS update: http://ad-dl02.4sh.jp/verupflo/dash/...sd_update.html --- Tick the box to agree, then press the Download button. You'll get the following file: SH-01D_OSversionup.EXE . The download might take up to an hour.
2. Run the file. It is an archive - select where to unpack it.

3. Download and install Posadis DNS server: http://posadis.sourceforge.net/release/041225
4. Download this file containing the DNS settings for the Major Update site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...5&postcount=80 --- it's called 4sh.jp.prm.zip. Unpack it and put the 4sh.jp.prm file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Posadis\Config
5. Open Posadis' Master File Editor. Open the above file and change the IPs for ad-dl and ns1 to the internal IP of your computer (192.168.x.x).

6. Install Apache for Windows. Apache will be launched automatically when you finish the installation. If you type "localhost" in your browser's address bar you should see Apache's "Success" page. The trick is to be able to access it from your phone (with wi-fi ON). This is where I fail.

7. Copy ALL the files inside the SH-01D_OSversionup folder to the root of your phone's SD card.

8. Also copy the entire folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache 2.2\htdocs
9. Rename the folder to firm_update.

10. Turn on wi-fi on your phone (if you've switched it off), go to Wi-Fi settings, press MENU button and tap "Advanced". Put a tick on "Use static IP", input an IP address on your LAN which is different from the IP address of your computer. For DNS 1, input the IP of your computer on which you've installed Posadis and Apache. Turn wi-fi off and then back on.

11. Start Posadis (Start > All Programs > Posadis 0.60.0 > Start Posadis). Leave it open. Apache must be running as well.

12. If you have succeeded in #6, that is, you can view localhost from your phone, you should also be able to open localhost/firm_update. Now, we need to check if the whole DNS spoofing process is working... From your phone's browser, try to access: http://ad-dl.4sh.jp/firm_update --- if the spoofing has worked, you should see the same folder contents that you saw when you opened localhost/firm_update.

13. Try to access the whole URL: http://ad-dl.4sh.jp/firm_update/DOCO...D_dclva9vK.xml. If successful, you should see the contents of this XML file.

14. Run the Major Update check: Settings > About phone > Major Update > Confirm Update. You will either see "your software is the latest version" (fail) or you'' see a notification that an update is available. If successful, please follow the update guide on the page from which you downloaded the ICS update files.

15. If you can access http://ad-dl.4sh.jp/firm_update/DOCO...D_dclva9vK.xml from your phone but the phone isn't finding an update, then maybe "firm_update" isn't the correct folder. Try making a new folder inside "firm_update" called FBAEE234, then move all the files to it and try again.

Sharp/Docomo may have decided to make it more difficult to spoof the server name than it was with the SH-12C. When comparing the XML files for the SH-12C update and the SH-01D update, I've found the following:

1. For the SH-12C, all the files are in this folder: http://ad-dl.4sh.jp/firm_update/FA6C8803/
2. For the SH-01D, the url tag is:

whereas the rest of the tags point to a slightly different address:

This means that we may need to try all possibilities. In #5, try changing ad-dl to ad-dl02. Or try creating folders in the Apache htdocs directory that mirror the structure of
