Symella 1.40 is released. I've added the long awaited "default network connection setting", hopefully it will solve the popping up access point dialog issue. The webcache support has also been improved. Symella queries the caches for addresses of other webcaches and you can edit the list of webcache addresses manually through the settings as well.



Symella is a Gnutella client for Symbian smartphones. Gnutella is a popular Peer-to-Peer file sharing network with several users from all around the world. (for PC Gnutella clients check this site).

Symella supports multi-threaded downloads which means that if multiple users have a particular file then Symella can download the file from several locations simultenously.

Symella is free (and open source) software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. We highly appreciate any help. If you like this software and want to support the development of Symella by making a donation, you can do so via PayPal.

Main Features

* Follows Gnutella 0.6 draft
Most things that could be solved on this mobile platform are in it. Handshake, standard Gnutella messages, Pong caching, connecting, querying, downloading (except Push messages). It doesn't have a sharing subsystem though, it has no sense having one on a small platform like Symbian - it concentrates on searching and downloading. It has no GGEP or HUGE implementation, just plain Gnutella messages.

* Uses GWebCache
As the draft suggests, it uses GWebCache, hostcaching and a primitive message caching to make communication easier.

* Search
Does the search by the book - collects files with the same hash into one result, resulting in faster download later.

* Swarming
Uses swarming technique for downloading - splits the selected file into more small parts, and downloads them simultaneously - faster and more effective than the one-threaded download.

* Multiple downloads
Only one search can be active at a time, but multiple downloads can run in the background, even from different searches.

* Open downloaded file
Open the downloaded file with the corresponding program, if available (MP3 player, picture viewer, etc)

Menstrual calendar for mobile phones
Also called an ovulation calendar, Menstral tracks women's menstrual cycles and indicates the fertile days. It runs on any mobile phone.

Menstral records information about past cycles, and allows easy access to past data for consultation.
It shows cycle statistics, like the shortest cycle and the average cycle length.
It predicts future cycles based on past data - this is useful for finding out in what cycle phase one will be at some future point in time.

It shows color-coded fertility information, which can be used to either help conception, or to avoid it. Nevertheless, Menstral does not represent a contraception method.

Menstral is translated in 15 languages, which can be selected at runtime:
Bosanski, Čeština, Deutsch, English, Español, Italiano, Lietuvių, Polski, Română, Русский, Slovenščina, Slovenčina, Srpski, Türkçe, Українська.


Menstral Features:

Multiple Profiles: Menstral can handle multiple independent sets of data, corresponding to different persons - it allows to track multiple persons on a single phone.
Configurable period length, between 3 and 7 days (default 5 days).
Allows setting the luteal phase length, between 12 and 16 days (default 14 days). The luteal length is the number of days after the ovulation and before the beginning of the next period. You can increase Menstral's accuracy by setting your luteal length (if you know it).
Allows setting your goal -- conception or contraception. Depending on this only the relevant days (fertile or infertile) are shown.
The command "Explain" attempts to give some insight in the way Menstral computes the fertility information.

Mundu Radio allows you to listen to Internet Radio Stations on your Mobile Phone. This involves no restriction on the number of internet radio channels, no play times, or no limits on how much music you can enjoy. Mundu Radio spells unlimited music, news and other content.

Using Mundu Radio, you can access thousands of Internet Radio stations currently available. All you need is the link to your favorite radio stations and to ensure those stations are streaming in MP3 format and at a bit-rate suitable to your current wireless internet connection.

However, right out of the box, a selection of around 50 popular stations is provided along with the Mundu radio client that you can start tuning into as soon as you install the Mundu Radio client onto your mobile phone.

You can create/edit your playlist on your personal page under the “My Mundu” section. Any changes made to your playlist on the website are reflected on the device using the “Update my playlist” option on the Mundu Radio client. Guardian is the new antitheft system for your Symbian Series 60 device.

What's new in this version:

- Lock your Phone or your SIM to avoid anyone using it.

Guardian is the example that is not needed to be a big Business Company to develop a great software.
I did all this, on my home-desktop pc, during my spare time!

Description

Guardian is the new antitheft system for Symbian Series 60 devices.
Every time you switch on your mobile telephone, Guardian proceeds with authentication of the inserted sim card; if authentication fails, Guardian send a notification sms message to a previously set telephone number.
In addition, the system features remote control functions, i.e. deleting your photographs/phone book/text messages/video/audio data in case of loss or theft of your mobile phone (see Plugins section).


Features

Here are the main features of Guardian, the only existing application of its kind today:
- Sms Notification -
Guardian automatically sends an sms notification about the change of the sim card containing additional information (new owner’s phone number, GSM cell ID of the terminal to which the telephone is connected, country ID and current network). Such sms messages are sent without notifying the new user.
- AutoStart -
Guardian autoruns every time you turn on your mobile phone; to be fully operative, users simply need to install it and set it up.
- AutoHiding -
When an unauthorized sim card is inserted (or in case the mobile phone is turned on without any sim card inserted), the program will switch to invisible mode (and therefore will not be accessible anymore). The new user will not be aware of the presence of an antitheft system. When an authorized sim card is inserted, Guardian will return to visible mode.
- Multilanguage -
Guardian includes multilanguage features; Just download the correct version for your language.
- Uninstall Protection -
This feature protects the system from unauthorized uninstallation. The program is not visible among the installed programs; to be uninstalled, a specific procedure is required, which may be accessed from the program only.
- Hard Reset Protection -
Modern mobile devices are equipped with a procedure (hard-reset) which allows to restore default settings (removing every installed software). Similar antitheft software programs may be blocked by using this procedure. Guardian features an advanced shadow copy system; in 90% of cases the program is not deleted after a hard-reset.
- Low Overhead -
During the day-to-day usage of the phone with an authorized SIM, Guardian will not use any memory resource, and it will not even run in the backround. The program will start every time the phone is turned on and if the SIM is authorized it will simply turn off without wasting any resource.

- More Information -
The previous version (1.0) does not need to be uninstalled.
The installation of this version guarantees a correct update of Guardian system.
At the end of the installation, wait a few seconds before launching the programme; otherwise, error message “File impossibile to delete” will appear.

The plugins are "components" of Guardian which allow the execution of simple operations, after the phone has been lost or stolen.
All the plugins can be used sending sms messages to the new sim (not Authorized).
The sms must respect a specific format depending on which plugin you want use, but ALL MUST begin with

Localize

- Description -
Allows to trak the movements of the phone using the informations of the gsm cells used by the phone.

QUANTITY=10 it's the quantity of the sms to be sent

INTERVAL=timeInMinutes it's the time between every localization sms

With this sms, Guardian will send a total of 5 localization sms, one every 30 minutes.

Delete

- Description -
This plugin can delete personal/confidential data from the phone after the phone has been lost or stolen.
With this plugin, you can delete (from both memories) your pictures, videos, records, sms sent/received/draft and also the full phonebook contacts.
The plugin offer the capability to delete ALL, or only a particual part of your data.

- Commands -
The order of the commands is not important, but they MUST be separated from blanks and MUST be all UPPERCASE

IMAGES: deletes all the pictures from internal and mmc memories

VIDEOS: deletes all the videos from internal and mmc memories

SOUNDS: deletes all the records from internal and mmc memories

SMS: delete all the sms sent / received / draft from the memory used as storage for your sms

CONTACTS: deletes all the phonebook contacts

ALL: equivalent of all the previous commands (deletes pictures/videos/records/sms/phonebook)

- Description -
Plays a lound alarm for a certain duration of time, it sounds also if the current profile in use is "silent"

- Description -
This plugin allow to change the Guardian's configuration.

The order of the commands is not important, but they MUST be all in UPPERCASE

STOPSMS: stop to send "sim changed" sms notification on every Turn On of the phone.

NEWNUMBER=value: sets the new recipient number of the "sim changed" message

NEWPASSWORD=value: sets a new password

DISABLE: disables Guardian (useful in case the phone come back in your own but you haven't the authorized sim anymore.

Using custom prayer calculation method
If the built in calculations aren't good enough for you, you can set custom Fajr and Isha angles to compute prayer times (in Prayer Times Pro only)

Asr calculation methods
Prayer Times has both standard (Imam Shafi', Hanbali, Maliki) as well as Hanafi method.
Timings on a date
Want to know what time you'll be waking up later this year in Ramadan, or what time the prayers will be on a particular date? Prayer Times Prayer Calendar can take in a particular Gregorian date and give you calculated prayer timings on that day. Available in Prayer Times Pro only.

Automatic Alerts
You can set automatic Sound alerts (note: only takbir is available in Prayer Times Basic, Full Athan is available in Prayer Times Pro) to for specific prayer times. This is especially useful in western countries where there is no Athan and no way of being notified of the current prayer. Automatic alerts will launch the application at Prayer times even if the application is not running Please note that Auto Alerts feature should not be entirely relied upon as most phones do not support this feature. Most phones ask for manual permission to launch the software due to which auto-alerts do not launch the software automatically. However, we have supplied a 'minimize' feature to run the application in background for phones that support it, which is more reliable. (some phones may request for permission to auto-launch, which you should accept).

Islamic Events
Use the Islamic Events of the Year. feature to find out when's what! It provides dates of important Islamic events/festivals both in Hijri and Gregorian for the current year. Only available in Prayer Times Pro.
Qibla Direction
Did you know that magnetic compasses are incorrect and cannot be trusted for getting the direction of Kabah? This is because the magnetic field changes and does not point to the TRUE North. Prayer Times for mobiles gives you an accurate direction of the Qibla based on True North as well as the relative direction from the current position of the Sun in the sky (direction from Sun is in Prayer Times Pro only). Prayer Times Pro has its own dedicated screen for Qibla direction (from North and the relative position from the Sun), distance to kaabah etc.

Adjust individual prayer times
You can adjust prayer times individually by adding/subtracting minutes to individual prayer times (in Prayer Times Pro only)
