What is Accelerometer :

An accelerometer is a device for measuring acceleration and gravity induced reaction forces. Single- and multi-axis models are available to detect magnitude and direction of the acceleration as a vector quantity. Accelerometers can be used to sense inclination, vibration, and shock. They are increasingly present in portable electronic devices.

S60v3 phones that uses accelerometer technology are: Nokia N95 and Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N93i, Nokia 5500, Nokia N96, Nokia N85, Nokia 5800, Nokia N89 and Nokia N82.

First install Accelerometer Plug-in on your phone. Here I upload this ....

* Hide/Show rectangles: Hide or Show detection rectangles on the viewfinder. These indicators will light on when a movement is detected.
* Sensibility settings:
o Pixel Sensibility: Set less than 100 in too dark or too lightly conditions.
o Image Sensibility: Set less than 50 if you are far from your phone.​

To-do​

* Find the best Sensibility values for each condition (like light or dark environment...)
* Add a ’Far’ or ’Close’ option: This beta is optimized to detect a close hand waving. I made an alpha version working well when you are far from your phone (very great with TV-Out).
* Make it working on all phone orientations.​

What is the best way to protect your phone against nasty thieves? I know, most of you would say treat your phone like the cash in the wallet, keep it in the pocket, never leave it unattended and you’ll have no problems at all.

Sounds as pretty good solution but unfortunately it's not always practical to carry the heavy Smartphone with you all the time, especially when you are on some kind of event like I was few days ago in Helsinki.

How much time have you wasted in your life on Microsoft Paint?
If you one of those people who love sketching and painting in the digital medium than this little software could be interesting for you,
but otherwise it is pretty pointless because possibilities of the motion based controlled brush on the QVGA screens are very limited unfortunately.

I mean it is the quite cool idea there is no doubt, especially considering all features that author planning to add till the final public version.
Of course, the idea itself is great but instead of painting over the crappy QVGA screen I'll rather use the phone's accelerometer to control the brush in the Photoshop,
but actually it is already possible by the NiiMe Mouse application?!

From other hand, this cute accelerometer based application could allow S60 phones to tap into an arty space, creative segment that strongly business oriented phones tend to miss.

The author is planning not to make a simple toy, but to create a complex and powerful image editor for Symbian phones, with layers support, brush options, filters and effects.
He is trying to create the software which can be useful to snap a picture, edit it straight on the phone, and send it, publish it immediately!

Currently keys are:

The Nokia Step Counter not only counts your steps, it also determines the distance you have covered and your energy expenditure.
You can even compare your activity levels on different days by looking up the summaries stored in a handy diary.

Want to know how it all works? Your steps are measured by analyzing the output from an accelerometer in your S60 mobile device.
All you have to do is carry your phone around with you whenever you move, for example in a pocket of your clothing, attached to a belt or your upper arm, or in a handbag worn over your shoulder.

Most commercial step counters require you to attach the measuring device to your belt.
We have made an effort to ensure that Nokia Step Counter is accurate regardless of how you carry your phone.
It should work fine if you have it in a pocket of your clothing, or a handbag you wear over your shoulder.
The most challenging case we are aware of is when you have the phone in your hand while walking because then you ’shake’ it in a way that is not representative of how your body’s center of gravity move!

Known issues: (don’t worry, we’ll fix these)
Height and weight must be entered in cm and kg regardless of whether Metric Units is chosen in Settings -> User
If the scheduler is disabled and the Step Counter is run past midnight statistics might be incorrectly allocated to different days

Nokmote_Beta3_S60v3.OS9.2_Unsigned ​

Nokmote is after all, intended to play games on your phone, and better in landscape mode.
But you can use it for menu navigation, web browsing... but it's not the first aim of this app.

It makes use of the Accelerometer motion sensing plugin which comes built-in with Nokia N95 classic and 8GB editions and in some later s60v3 phones.

Beta 3:
- Major bug on newer firmwares fixed

Nokmote 2 will be oriented to navigation.

To play a game with Nokmote:
- Launch Nokmote, and bring it to background
- Keep your phone in the original position. In original position, no keys are simulated. You can define this position in Options -> Calibrate
- Press the hotkey to activate Nokmote
- Tilt your phone left, right, up or down to simulate joypad keys. Keeping your phone tilted will simulate a long key press
- Push the phone quickly away from you to simulate a 'Ok' key
- To deactivate Nokmote press the hotkey.

Don't forget to install N95AccelerometerPlugin.sis.
Don't forget to disable rotateMe.

USER GUIDE
==========
To rotate the screen, keep this application opened and rotate the phone.
To close rotateMe go to Options > Exit.

Settings:
- Sensitivity: More sensitivity is set to a high value, more the display will rotate with a minor needing of rotation of the phone.
- Reactivity: The lower this setting is, the longer you have to keep your phone in landscape/portrait position to rotate the screen.
- Auto Start: Enable this setting to launch rotateMe automatically at the phone boot.
- Autorotation switch type:
* Hotkey: Disable autorotation by pressing simultaneously 'Pen' and 'Camera' keys.
* By launching: Disable autorotation by launching rotateMe. To launch the app, launch it from menu.
- Inactivity Delay: After this delay of inactivity, auto-rotation will be stopped. Press a key, or unlock the keypad, to reactivate auto-rotation.
- Priority: High priority allows a better reactivity when big apps are launched.
- System App.: When activated, this setting prevents rotateMe to be closed by the OS in low RAM conditions.
- Hidden App.: Enable this setting to hide rotateMe from the tasks list.

Note: If you enable "Hidden App." or "System App." you will not be able to close rotateMe from tasks list

* System App.: When activated, this setting prevents ShutUp to be closed by the OS in low RAM conditions.
* Hidden App.: Enable this setting to hide ShutUp from the tasks list.

Notes:
* To prevent unwanted profile changes when you phone is shaked, set reactivity to a low value.
* FlipProfile mode consume more battery than other modes. Disable it if you don't need it.

The basic functionality of this simlpe application is to show your vehicle angles while off-roading using the Nokia N95 accelerometer.
Just Fix your mobile phone in a secure cradle and then launch the app!.

To keep the backlight on, select "Light on" from options menu, as well as there is a reset option, which with you can reset the angle values to zero level.

Update:
The Inclinometer for N95 is now also updated, did remove the RD-plug-in, so it should work with other Nokia mobile phones with accelerometer, and not just with Nokia N95.
Also added options for reset and keeping the backlight on continuously.

WaterBox is actually a fluid simulator that uses the built-in accelerometer to detect the phone movement and simulate the fluid moving across the screen according to phone position and moving direction.

All graphics are done with OpenGL ES although it probbably isn't the best possible choice for 2D graphic but since Teemu is already familiar with codding in OpenGL he decided to use OpenGL engine for this cool application.
