*If you get a certificate error when attempting to install the sis-file on your smartphone, it means that you haven't enabled installation of unsigned SIS files. Go to Tools -> App. Manager, choose Options -> Settings and set Software installation to All and Online certif. check to Off.

New in v0.07:

- Use of full screen mode while display is active. This increases brightness of backlight up to 20%.

Known issues :

Nokia N71/N95: Camera flash not supported (only in "red")
Internal Camera application and S60SpotOn-Flash can't be used at the same time.

Best Profiles allows automatic profiles switching according to your schedule or calendar. For each profile Best Profiles allows selection of additional settings such as: backlight, sound on activate, run custom application etc.

Any user of a Nokia smartphone had experienced the following situations: while in the office, meeting or dinner suddenly your phone disturbs you. An incoming call? Not now! It's the only thing you can think about at the moment. Quite often interruption puts you into an embarrassing situation. Another example: you are lying in bed, trying to have some rest after a hard day at work, and again the phone is ringing, because you forgot to switch off "your favourite toy"... Terrible!

It is natural to expect your smartphone to be able to change profile settings automatically, for example a silent mode at night or at work. Unfortunately, the smartphone does not offer such a possibility. But there's no need to worry: Best Profiles integrates this feature into your smartphone!


How to start:

To add extra functions to standard profiles with Best Profiles, you need to configure rules and additional settings. Of course, you also have to turn Best Profiles on.


Profiles view:

In the main view you can see the list of system profiles. The current active profile is marked.

You can activate one of those profiles with help of menu functions. You can also make a profile activate after a certain time or at certain hours (timed profile feature).


Advanced profile settings:

​

Best Profiles expand the possibilities of system profiles and let you customize additional properties for each profile. This feature offers the following options:

• Wallpaper - you can choose any picture to be shown in your Phone application (Standby screen);
• Sound on activate - allows setting a sound to play when the profile is activated;
• Bluetooth - sets Bluetooth operating mode for this profile;
• Backlight - offers the choice among the following values: "Normal" (usual behaviour), "On if charging" and "Always on";
• Run application - you can assign any application installed on your phone to be launched when this profile is activated;

Schedule rules:

​

The profiles will be switched according to the schedule (composed in this view). You can set profile activation time on any day(s) of the week when the profile has to be switched on, deactivation time and the profile to be turned on after the deactivation of this entry. You can temporarily turn off any entry by choosing Disable. This entry will be omitted, i.e. Best Profiles will not switch to the profile indicated in this entry.

The following operations can be executed on entries: add new, change, delete entry, enable or disable it.
Every rule has the following parameters:

• Activate time - the time when it has to be activated;
• Condition - the day(s) of week when it has to be activated;
• Profile - one of five system profiles;
• Allow deactivate - when choosing "Yes", you can set profile deactivation time and the profile you want to activate after this one;
• Deactivate time & Restore profile - here you can define the profile that will be activated after the Deactivate time. You can select one of five system profiles or "Previous". If you select "Previous" the profile used before the Deactivate time will become active again.

Calendar rules:

In this dialog you can set Calendar rules.

Best Profiles works with your Calendar! If you have a meeting recorded in the Calendar, you don't have to add a line to your Best Profiles schedule. The program will automatically select the predefined profile when it finds a keyword assigned for this profile.

For example, you have a note in your Calendar about a meeting from 9.00 to 10.00 but you think that you may forget to switch your smartphone to the Silent profile. So you want your Best Profiles to switch to it automatically at 9.00 and then switch back to General (or any other) profile at 10.00. This is what you have to do in your Best Profiles: specify a keyword (we recommend enclosing it in special symbols, e.g. #meeting#). When Best Profiles finds this word or word combination you defined in a calendar entry, it'll switch to the profile you've defined for this keyword automatically.

The following operations can be executed on rules: add new, change, delete entry, enable or disable.
Every rule has the following parameters:

• Keyword - this is the word you will be using in your Calendar. This word must be unique because Best Profiles scan all the notes in the Calendar looking for this word.
  Example: if you define the keyword work for activating Silent mode and then add to Calendar "Start work" at 9:00 and "Finish work" at 18:00, Best Profiles will switch to the Silent mode both at 9:00 and at 18:00.
  To make this word unique we recommend placing it between special symbols $..$, %..% etc. E.g. #work# or %work% or !arbeit!;
• Profile - one of system profiles associated with the keyword;
• Allow deactivate - if "Yes" is selected and you have created a timed meeting in the Calendar (e.g. Start Time at 6:00 and End Time at 12:00), then the profile selected in the "Restore profile" option is activated;
• Restore profile - one of five system profiles or "Previous" profile can be selected to activate when this rule effect is over;

Charger rules:

Here you can configure the profile, to which your smartphone will switch when connecting and disconnecting the charger. For example, if your smartphone is always charging at home, you can set Silent profile to activate for "Charger on" rule and General profile for "Charger off" rule.

Quick Guide:

* Upon successful installation, a "tape" icon appears on the bottom middle of your phone screen when you launch the application. You can choose to hide the icon by pressing "Options->Settings", and change "Hidden Mode" to "Always" or "When Idle".
* Open the application from the phone menu, press "Hide" to let UltimateVoiceRecorder run in background mode if you only want to use hotkeys to start/stop recording.
* Press hotkeys anytime to record, stop, pause and play. You don't need to open Ultimate Voice Recorder in foreground in order to use hotkeys.
* Default hotkeys to record, stop, play ans pause are "#0", "#7", "#1" and "#8".
* Or press abc/pen three times to start/stop recording.
* Or press PPT three times to start/stop recording.
* Or press Up arrow/record button three times to start/stop recording on Nokia E61 phone and the similar phones with full keyboard.
* To automatically record phone calls, press "Options->Settings", and set "Automatic Mode" to "on", then all the calls will be recorded automatically. Also set the "Recording Limit" to 0 so that the whole call will be recorded.
* Set recording limit to 0 if you need unlimited length recording. The actual recording length depends on the free disk space.
* Press "Options->Settings", and turn "Warning Beep" on/off according to your needs. When it's off, no beep during call recording!
* Press "Options->Settings", scroll down to the bottom, and enable or disable "Auto start" according to your need. If "Auto start" is set to "Enabled", the application will start up automatically upon phone power up. Be aware that by default, "Auto start" is disabled!.
* Use left/right key to mark multiple clips for sending to other devices or deleting.
* Open Ultimate Voice Recorder and press "Options->Settings" to change hotkeys and other options such as recording limit, recording format, automatic recording of phone calls, automatic deletion of clips.
* After your phone powers up, wait until the tape icon appears on the bottom of the phone before using hotkeys! If no tape icon appears after a few minutes, launch Ultimate Voice Recorder and press "Hide", then the tape icon will appear and hotkeys will be ready.
* Press "Options->Settings" to adjust "Hidden mode" to specify when to show the tape icon - always, never or only while idle.
* To use Nokia PC suite software to copy recorded clips to your PC, open the "c:\Data\UltimateVR" and "e:\Data\UltimateVR" directories on your phone in the file explorer of the PC suite. All the recorded clips are in those two directories.
* Don't use Nokia PC suite software to delete recorded clips on your phone, use Ultimate Voice Recorder to do so instead.
* Press "Options->help" for detailed user guide.



Known Issues:

* Compatibility issues with Nokia 5500 and Nokia E50. For these two models of phones, phone calls can be recorded with "Beep" on. (press options->Settings, and turn on "Warning beep".)
* The non-beep feature won't work with bluetooth headsets.

The SmartProfile enables your phone to work under proper profiles automatically according to your time schedules or your locations. For example, you may need your phone to be silent from 11 pm to 5 am every day, and be in meeting profile from 10:30 am to 11:30 am every Monday, all you need to do is to set up the schedule using SmartProfile, then the application will take care of setting your phone to use proper profiles automatically. Or you may need your phone to be silent in a cinema or a library, then just let SmartProfile remember the locations and it will change your phone's profiles accordingly for you! Free upgrades!

Quick Guide

* How to set up a profile schedule for a day.
o Press "Options->Today's schedule", and you will be directed to the schedule page of today. Press Left/Right to cycle through from Monday to Sunday.
o Press "Options->Add", and follow the wizard to choose the start time of the schedule, the duration of the schedule, and the profile that should be applied for this schedule.
o Press "Options->Set type" to mark the schedule as one-time schedule or a repeated schedule. A one-time schedule will be applied once and deleted automatically afterwards. A repeated one will be applied on the same day of the week.
* How to change a profile schedule for a day.
o Press "Options->Today's schedule", and you will be in the schedule view of today.
o Use left/right navigation key to go to the schedule view of the previous day of the week or the following day of the week
o Scroll down to the shedule item you want to change.
o Press "Options->Edit profile" to change the profile attached to the schedule.
o Press "Options->Edit time" to change the time period of the schedule.
o Press "Options->Set type" to change the schedule as one-time one or a repeated one.
* How to set up a time schedule for a profile.
o In the profile view, scroll down to the profile you want to set a schedule for.
o Press "Options->Profile's schedule", and your will be directed to the schedule view of your chosen profile. Press Left/Right to cycle through from Monday to Sunday.
o Press "Options->Add", and follow the wizard to setup the start time, duration of a time period for the profile.
o Press "Options->Set type" to mark this schedule as a one-time or a repeated schedule.
* How to change the time schedule for a profile.
o In the Profile view, highlight the profile you want to set a schedule for.
o Press "Options->Profile's schedule", and you will be in the schedule view of the profile.
o Scroll down to the schedule item you want to change.
o Press "Options->Edit" to change the time period of the schedule.
o Press "Options->Set type" to change the schedule as one-time one or a repeated one.
* How to save your current location.
o When in the Profile view, press "Options->Location view", and you will be directed to the Location screen.
o If your current location is not saved yet, it will be shown as "Unknown" on the top of the screen. Press "Options->Save this location", then you can name your current location.
o All the locations with the same name will be merged as one location.
* How to assign a profile to a location.
o In the Profile view, scroll down to the profile of your interest, and press "Options->Attach location", then choose the location for the profile.
o Or in the Profile view, press "Options->Location view" to switch to the location screen.
o Use the navigation key to select the location of your interest, and press "Options->Assign profile" to choose the profile for the location.
* How to copy a schedule.
o When in the Schedule screen, highlight the schedule item you want to copy.
o Press "Options->Copy", and choose the day of week you want copy to.
* How to set up Calendar rule.
o Press "Options->Calendar rule" to specify keywords. The "default profile" in the calendar rule screen specify what profile to use for the calendar entries that don't have any keyword matched; if set to "None", then those entries will be ignored.
o Only the calendar entries within current week are shown, but Smartprofile will load your calendar automatically as days go by.


IMPORTANT

* SmartProfile ONLY starts changing your phone profiles when it's running in background mode. So after you have finished add/edit the schedules/locations, go back to the Profile view, and press Hide to let SmartProfile run in background mode. And SmartProfile will change your phone profiles according to your schedules.
* The application identifies your current location by the cell (base station) that's serving your phone. It's possible that your phone is covered by more than one cell at some point, so after you name your current location (one cell), the application keeps detecting other cells of your current location. As a result, the application will show your location as the named one and "unknown" for a period of time. The application will merge those cells automatically eventually, or your can name the "Unknown" location again to manually merge them.

Installation

After purchase, you'll download a zip file to your computer. Double-click to open it, and inside you'll find a 'swf' and a 'sis' file. Use either infrared, bluetooth, or the USB cable that came with your phone to transfer the file to your phone.

Bluetooth: If your PC and handset both support Bluetooth, you can connect the device with the PC and transfer the file via Bluetooth.

USB: Most phone manufacturers supply a USB cable for synchronising the handset with a PC and transferring files.

Memory card: Using a memory card reader, you can transfer the file to the memory card for the phone.
