GPSViewer v2.5.2 J2ME ​

The GPSViewer shows the time, the current location, the speed, and the moving direction on the display of the mobile phone and runs on all phones, which at least support CLDC 1.0 and MIDP 2.0 and which allow access to Bluetooth (JSR 82) or the serial interface (data cable). That applies to nearly all current mobile phone models. Alternatively an integrated GPS receiver can be used if it can be accessed using JSR 179.



GPS receivers with Bluetooth or serial interface are supported, which provide the NMEA 0183 sentences GGA and VTG or RMC. That nearly all at the market available might be.

In the connection mode "Network/Internal" the Location API (JSR 179) is used. In this case no external GPS receiver is needed. In this case the location is determined by the GPS receiver or by the network provider. This functionality is obviously supported however in Germany so far by no provider.



Usage:
- Start GPSViewer.
- If necessary change the desired connection mode in the menu "Options". On Bluetooth capable mobile phones Bluetooth is preset, otherwise the data cable. In addition with selection of the data cable the Baud rate can be changed. The NMEA default value of 4800 Bit/s is preset. If needed, the automatic or manual altitude correction can be activated. The menu can be reached by a function key. Since the display is used in full-screen mode, on many phones is no mark for the active function key.
- The indication of the speed can take place in km/h or knots. The signal quality is the better, the smaller the value is.
- The indication takes place in blue, if no connection to the GPS receiver exists and red, if the GPS data are invalid (no free view to satellites).

LocViewer v1.6.2 J2ME

LocViewer loads map sections according to the current position from a Web service from the Internet and indicates the position on the display of the mobile phone.

As data source e.g. road maps or satellite photos can be selected. In addition the speed and the moving direction are indicated. The map sections can be panned and zoomed.

In order to reduce data traffic, the map sections are stored in the mobile phone. So a map section must be downloaded only once.

LocViewer runs on all phones which support at least CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0 and allow access to Bluetooth (JSR 82) or the serial interface (data cable). That applies to nearly all current mobile phone models. Alternatively an integrated GPS receiver can be used if it can be accessed using JSR 179.

Apart from the hardware, a free ESRI Global Account is the only prerequisite for the use of LocViewer. After the creation of your account, please don't forget to register for the ESRI ArcWeb Services�Public Services account in a second step.

Usage

- If applicable switch on GPRS.

- Start LocViewer.

- In Menu "Options" enter user name and password of your ESRI account and change the desired connection mode if necessary. On Bluetooth capable mobile phones Bluetooth is preset, otherwise the data cable. In addition with selection of the data cable the Baud rate can be changed. The NMEA default value of 4800 Bit/s is preset. As data source for locations in Europe TA.Streets.EU is recommended. If needed, the automatic or manual altitude correction can be activated.

- To display the map section choose "Map". In the top the coordinates, the altitude, the speed, and the driving direction are indicated. The display can be switched to show UTM coordinates (Universal Transverse Mercator) or MGRS/UTMREF coordinates (Military Grid Reference System). In this case the Zone, Easting, and Northing are displayed. This information as well as the permanent position actualization can be switched off in the menu. The color of the cursor reflects the validity of the GPS data.

- The map section can be zoomed or panned with the Joystick or with the numerical keys. In this case the position actualization as well as the information indication are switched off automatically.

- The actualization of the position and the information indication can be switched on at any time in the menu again.

- The essential GPS data can be displayed by choosing "GPS data". One can switch between geographic, UTM, and MGRS/UTMREF coordinates using the menu.

- With the menu option "Maps" the map sections stored in the mobile phone can be displayed and if necessary deleted. In the map overview the map sections are listed with their numbers as well as minimum and maximum longitudes and latitudes. Individual map sections can be displayed simply by choosing them.

- In the menu "Options" the selected map sections can be deleted. Furthermore it is possible to delete ranges or all map sections. For the definition of the ranges to be deleted the data source, as well as longitude and latitude can be entered. All map sections which originate from the specified data source and whose coordinates smaller or larger than the specified once will be deleted than.

Taking Pictures

The camera mode offers advanced features:
it allows to adjust the resolution, the zoom, the exposure time, the brightness and the contrast while taking a picture (details depend on the phone type)
it records automatically the location data: Cell ID/LAC and, if available, the GPS position
it provides easy tagging

Tagging Pictures

After taking a picture you may add voice-tags. These are the keywords to be used later on in voice searches. You may add or delete voice-tags at a later date; select and open the picture, and proceed as above. In addition, you may name a picture.

Easy browsing

In the main view your pictures are arranged in the order you took them, in grids 3 x 3, 4 x 4 or 5 x 5. You can browse them one by one, or page by page.
You may open, zoom or rotate a picture, inspect the parameters, - just as in any other photo album.
Adnota album's outstanding features are the novel, easy to use search functions, most notably voice search and location search.

Location Search

Search for photos that were taken in the same location as another one or search for photos that were taken right where you are. All automatic, no further information needed. (Only for photos taken with ADnota album, or for pictures with GPS position data imported in Exchangeable Image Format EXIF.)
More specifically, the location search function lists the photos taken in a given GSM network cell and location area.
New! GPS position data. If a Bluetooth GPS receiver is connected while a photo is taken, the GPS data are stored with the picture data in Exchangeable Image Format (EXIF). The GPS and GSM data are used for Location Searches.




Voice Search

What's more natural than saying "Sandy" when you're looking for a photo of her? Voice tagging lets you associate spoken "names" with photos, so that you can retrieve them by simply saying their names.
Voice search returns a list of all pictures with voice tags. The best matches appear in the top left corner of the result overview.
Technically speaking, the search function of ADnota album sorts the photos corresponding to the acoustical similarity between the search word and stored voice tags. A red bar on the right side of the photo reflects this similarity.

To share your data with others or to transfer it to other devices ADnota album features various communication channels. You may send photos via bluetooth, MMS or e-mail.

MapsBeta on Ovi works on IE6 (Windows XP), IE7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 (Windows XP or Vista). ​

Your travel guide licences are not valid in the beta version of Maps 3.0. However, the guide licences will be valid again in the final version of Maps 3.0. ​

If you want to continue using the licences, use Maps 1.0 or 2.0, or wait for the final version of Maps 3.0.​

Your navigation licences work normally in the beta version of Maps 3.0.​

To check the validity of your licences, select Options > Extras > My licences.​
