NetFront v3.1 for Series 60 is a sophisticated Internet browser for smartphones. It provides quick and seamless access to standard Web pages from a mobile phone. To make mobile browsing convenient NetFront offers Smart-Fit Rendering?, which intelligently adapts standard Web pages to the screen width of a Series 60 phone and eliminates the need for horizontal scrolling. To get information fast NetFront starts displaying a Web page in a simplified format and automatically enriches the layout as more elements get downloaded. This allows you quickly gain an overview about the contents and select further reading links before the complete download of larger objects such as pictures or animations.

NetFront v3.1 supports all important Internet standards, including HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.1, cHTML, CSS, SSL and ECMA Script (JavaScript 1.5). This version supports English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese phone language.

NetFront for Series 60 is compatible with the Nokia 3650, 3660, 3620, 3600, 6600, 7610, Nokia N-Gage game deck, N-Gage QD game deck, Siemens SX-1, Sendo X, Nokia 6620, Nokia 6260, Panasonic X700 (coming in autumn 2004) and Samsung SGH-D710 (coming soon).

Smart-Fit Rendering - convenient browsing NetFront uses a sophisticated rendering technique to adapt pages coded for PC to a Series 60 screen. Smart-Fit Rendering eliminates the need for horizontal scrolling, yet maintains the intended layout as much as possible.

Rapid-Render - Faster access to information NetFront starts displaying a Web page in a simplified format and automatically enriches the layout as more elements get downloaded. This gives you an overview about the contents quickly and you can select further reading links before larger objects such as pictures or animations are downloaded.

TextOnly mode - speed of access and safe option Some Web sites simply do not load in full layout on a memory constrained mobile device. TextOnly mode allows you access the information by dropping the layout and greatly enhances the download speed.

Customizable shortcuts - even faster access to information You can assign menu commands to the phones number keys, plus the "*" and "#" keys. A set of shortcuts is predefined. For example pressing "2" brings you to the end of a page while pressing "1" brings you back to the top of the page, "*" toggles full screen mode on/off and "#" toggles Smart-Fit on/off.

Integration with contacts and messaging applications NetFront seamlessly integrates with other applications on your phone. For example, you can easily add an e-mail address from a link on a Web page to your Contacts; and, clicking an e-mail link opens the e-mail application with the address automatically added inserted.

GOOGLE MAPS AND OTHERS AT YOUR FINGERS...

Mobile GMaps is a FREE application that displays Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, Windows Live Local (MSN Virtual Earth) and Ask.com Maps and satellite imagery on Symbian and Java J2ME-enabled mobile phones, PDAs and other devices.

MGMaps can connect to a GPS receiver over bluetooth or use internal GPS features on some phones in order to automatically display the map for your current position.

NEW IN v1.31.03 VERSION

• Local search — this was named Find Businesses in previous versions. The improved version allows you to search for businesses or points of interest around your current position as determined by the GPS device, or around the current map position.
• Search country in Search/Preferences allows you to select a localized Google Maps site to perform the search. This is useful when searching by zip-code, when searching for businesses without specifying a place or country, or when there are places with the same name in different countries and Google can't decide by itself. You can always force searches to take place in a given country by including the country name with the search terms.
• Did you mean... — if the place you are searching for is not found but Google has suggestions, you'll see them in MGMaps. For example, try searching for "New jork" or "Munchen".
• You can now move the map AND show a marker as your position changes. Configure these options in Settings/GPS/Mobile Tracking
• GPS coordinate format — show coordinates as DD°mm'ss" (degrees, minutes and seconds — default), DD°mm.mmm (degrees and minutes — similar to the NMEA 0183 format), or DD.ddddd (degrees only with 5 decimals). You can configure the format in Settings/GPS/Other settings.
• The Powered-by text displayed on the map can be hidden by unchecking the corresponding option in Settings/Screen.
• Bug fixes in Subway Maps and other services.

NEW IN v1.31.xx SERIES

• A Low Memory option was added to Settings/Browsing. Enable this option if you get out of memory errors in MGMaps (also check the Cache Size option). Note that the app interface will be slower with Low Memory enabled.
  
• Search results and KML data are now compressed in order to reduce network traffic usage and to speed up searches or KMLs.
  
• The backlight fix introduced in v1.30.12 made the app crash on some phones. This was fixed in v1.31.01.
  
• Mobile GMaps now supports a closer integration with Navizon. You can use these products together on Symbian and Windows-Mobile phones to see your position on the map without a GPS device.
  
• The GPS options were reorganized and the GPS position and heading can now be shown full-screen. To access the new GPS menu, select 6 in the main menu. You can also press 6 when the menu is not open to switch between the regular map screen and the GPS info screen
  
• The current heading (if available) can be shown as an arrow in the center of the screen while viewing the map.
  
• A bug was fixed in the View KML service.
  
• Other minor bugs and improvements.

Here are some key features of the application:

• GPS connectivity: connect to a GPS device over bluetooth or use the internal GPS to view maps or aerial imagery for your current location. Enable GPS synchronization to continuously move the map as you move around, view your position, speed and heading.
  
• Maps and satellite imagery: view various types of maps and aerial images, zoom in and out, mark favorite places with map pushpins.
  
• Search for places or businesses, view the results including addresses and phone numbers. Do you want to call any of them? You can do that directly from Mobile GMaps!
  
• Bookmarks: store your favorite places or search results to jump quickly to any of them.
  
• Mobile WikiMapia:New! WikiMapia.org is a mashup that allows users to add tags and annotate locations displayed on Google Maps. They already have over 1 million places, now you can view them on your cellphone using MGMaps!
  
• View KML files:New! view any .kml file available online containing Google Earth places by simply entering its web address. Compressed files (.kmz) are also supported.
  
• Subway maps: view subway maps for New York, London, Berlin, Washington DC, Boston.
  
• Connectivity with Navizon: use MGMaps together with Navizon in order to support GPS functionality over bluetooth on older Symbian S60 phones and to enable positioning features without a GPS device.
