Pizza Magnate is the most recent tycoon type game to be released and quite frankly it is one of the most interesting and deepest of the bunch. Developed by Qplaze of the Real Soccer fame, Pizza Magnate is a satisfying feast of mobile business gameplay.

The object of Pizza Magnate is to rake in puddles of cash as soon as possible and to drive your competitors out of business. To achieve this capitalistic goal, you’ll be hiring personnel, purchasing pizza recipes, arranging timely delivery of supplies and designing your own pizza joint in order to make it a faster and more efficient money making business.

There are a vast array of options within the game that showcases how deep a business simulator Pizza Magnate really is. Each personnel you’ll be hiring is rated in two different aspects such as skill level and speed level. Employees have different jobs and as you continue to delve deeper into the game, you’ll find yourself needing every single bit of these specialists to help you keep your pizza business in the black. Cooks, waiters, security guards and janitors are going to be draining your coffers through their salaries but without these people, you won’t be generating any cash flow at all.

Advertising and upgrading your facilities will also come into play in order to maintain an edge over the competition. Nothing about the game is as simple as it seems. Still though, despite the numerous factors, Pizza Magnate is a enjoyable and very satisfying game once you master the nuances of running a pizza joint.

The game is played via real time and you’ll be seeing tiny people moving across the screen. While at first the game can seem overwhelmingly complicated with a lot of stuff to juggle as you manage your pizza place, Qplaze implemented a solid gaming interface that can help you easily manage the task as long as you spend a few minutes reading through the various help screens. This is one game where you won’t be having a good first run if you don’t take the time reading the help sections.

If you’ve played and enjoyed other tycoon type games before, you’ll find yourself immersed in pizza heaven as you strive to build an insanely profitable pizza empire. You’ll find yourself playing Pizza Magnate either through the campaign mode or the individual quick game scenarios. The included quick game scenarios have their own level of difficulty and objectives. Starting conditions can vary depending on the scenario and can range from the spectrum of easy to the moderately challenging.

Aside from the stirring intro music and the mission briefing which are disappointingly short, the only stuff you’ll hear from your mobile phone speaker are the usual assortment of beeps and pops. Clearly while gameplay and graphics for mobile phone games have been evolving by leaps and bounds, the aural department is still a neglected aspect of mobile gaming.

I like the way Pizza Magnate looks. Every single graphic seems to be a good fit for the game. Animation and menu options are pretty well done and I really have no complaints about the way the game does in the graphics department.

If you like a fresh challenge to keep you occupied for a few hours, Pizza Magnate is a yummy offering that you should seriously consider.
