The DragonSlayer Jr. mobile game is based on the comical adventures of Dragonslayer Jr. with inspiration coming from the animated mobile movie clips carrying the same name. The player will in this game navigate Dragonslayer Jr. horizontally behind the parapets of the castle where he resides while trying to blast the Dragon to pieces with his devastating fully automatic egg cannon.

The Dragon will try to avoid the rain of egg and in defense spew fire in the direction of Dragonslayer Jr. During the game power-ups and other goodies can be collected by launching eggs at the various creatures walking in the bottom of the screen. Points will be awarded for accuracy and speed.

[/FONT]This game recreates the toughest raid in the world, in which the skill as a pilot wields the same importance as the ability of wilderness survival in the African dunes. The game shows an isometric perspective, which allows watching in full detail the daring performances of the 4x4 vehicle you are driving: long skids, leaps over cracks, overturns, two-wheel driving.

The game includes 4 long stages, where you run over dusty trails, sometimes sparkled with stones and other obstacles like cracks, dunes where you will leap amazingly, etc. The tracks where you run, branch out at crossroads, where you will have to decide the right road to follow. There is a time limit of 90 seconds to reach the end of each stage, though you can increase it by picking "time icons", which will give you some extra seconds. Each stage has three "optimal routes" which are the fastest to get to the finishing line, and you start randomly one of these routes each time you play. To find your way around and keep on the optimal route each time you get to a crossroad, you should always choose the branch where you can see an icon you can pick up.

There are several kinds of these icons and have different uses that we’ll review later. There are two game modes, individual and two-player game. In the former, you struggle to get to Dakar in the least possible time, and there is a record to beat in each stage, as well as a global record for the raid. In two-player mode, you compete with a friend and run each stage in turns, though if one of you reaches the goal out of time, you will be disqualified for the rest of the raid. There are arrow-shaped graphics that are shown on the screen to indicate the bends of the road you are approaching. They also indicate narrowing and other obstacles that require sudden manoeuvres to anticipate them.

Humans controlled some Dragons and their descendants who were lost for their selves and forced them to fight as tools. Fierce battles occurred inside the same race, and the blood of Giant Dragons was everywhere. Although the cost was quite high, the King of Dragon still believed the victory had already come. However, Paradin the Lord granted Humans theUltimate Weapon – Spear of Slaying Dragon. In that sad Night of Darkmoon, the King of Dragon lost its life, and the rest ofDragons were hidden. That was the end of an era, and the book of the War of Spear was closed forever. From then on, Humans became the ruler of Kleinn. The unyielding Giant Dragons were called Demon Dragons by the enemies. They could only live in the corners and edges of Kleinn, and wait for the return of the King….

[/FONT]Anito: Call of the Land is a hack and slash with some deep RPG aspects. A good game for samurai wannabes, the game satisfies as a basic action game, although doesn't really work as an RPG.

Anito places you as a Laon, a warrior living in the Land 'Maroka' where fighting tribes threaten to destroy the land. With your family taken and demons running amok in the world, your task is obvious. The game's levels are set up sort of missions, for example to kill all 3 masters or kill the minions. Generally, the missions do involve killing, and that's where the game gets its hack and slash nature.

The controls in the game are good, and the game utilizes every button on the phone's entire keypad. Since the game is isometric, kind of like a grid in simple terms, sometimes in the quick of battle it is hard to judge exactly where the enemies are coming from, and that generally leads to game overs. This doesn't happen terribly often though, and generally the action is smooth and easy to play.

There is a good range of weapons available, although there are only a limited number of items you can carry, which gives the game some extra strategy. There are also many potions and powerups, obtained by smashing pots and killing enemies, which definitely contributes to the slight RPG feel of the game. Also, levelling up is important, as the enemies become very hard to kill as you progress through the game, which I will elaborate on later.

The graphics in the game are serviceable, not particularly flashy or jaw-dropping but they do the job well. The levels are quite large, and filled with many trees, rocks and other scenery. It doesn't, in any way, jump out at you, but the graphics are decent and smooth.

The sound in Anito is disappointing to say the least. With a game as expansive as this, it is a shame to see almost no sound. A main theme plays through the menu, but in the actual game itself there is just a single sound used when you pick up an item. Not good enough.

The game has a few areas that could've been improved. One is the difficulty curve as the game starts out as a basic, easy hack and slash but after a couple of levels quickly turns into a constant fight for your life. At one stage, and I assure you, this was not because of my gaming abilities, it took me over twenty 'Game Overs" before I completed the level. Needless to say, this was a little frustrating, and perhaps the game could've been designed to be a bit more even in its difficulty.

Anito: Call of the Land is a good, albeit not a great action game. It's at its best when it provides some simple slashing action as opposed to when it tries to chuck magic and levelling up into the mix. The RPG elements tend to feel unnecessary when the vast majority of the game is merely spent slashing enemies. There are definitely a few areas that could've been worked on, but compared to what else is available on the market, this is definitely worth considering.
